| TAKE A BOW MERBEIN MY FAMILY HAD ONE THE BEST FEW DAYS IN A LONG TIME THE PARADE THE FIREWORKS VISTING ALL THE EXHIBITS ETC THE RSL PUT ON A GREAT FEAST AND TO ALL THE LOCAL CLUBS AS WELL TO OTHER GROUPS INVOLED ALSO GREAT TO CATCH UP WITH FAMILY FRIENDS AND SOME WE HEARD WHERE THERE BUT DID NOT SEE BUT WOULD LIKE TO HERE FROM AT SOME TIME .REGARDS FROM MAX DAVIS AND FAMILY P.S MY PHONE IS 073005776 |

| Organisers of the Merbein Centenary - take a bow! What a superbly organised event. I had a ball. The parade was a highlight. I couldn't get enough diptins, dip tanks, rack shakers and old tractors from heavens know where! And the dehydrator was a real hoot! Such a lot of effort and attention to detail in all the floats. I feel enriched and re-connected to my youth. And the contact continues - with emails still coming in from long-lost neighbours wanting to be in touch. Thank you so much to the people who were able to come and made the effort - for sharing your memories with me. Alison George, Woodend. |

| I have just been reading some of the letters re early Merbein and they bring back some wonderful memories.and names. My Dad worked in Bowings with Angus Cameron and we lived in Game Street. My Mother had a dressmaking shop in Commercial street before leaving to work in Maples in Mildura. How things have changed now. Sounds like everyone had a great timeAnn Burgess Moama NSW |

| On behalf of all the Staff & Board of Directors of the Merbein & District Community, we would like to thank you & congratulate the Centenary Committee for a first class event. We all enjoyed the events & especially the Concert which we sponsored & the Street Parade. It was great to see so many people coming back to Merbein for this event. A real community spirit was built over the celebrations & for that you should all be commended. Again thanks for a great time & bring on 2059 !!! Robert Libchard

| The best Longweekend. |

We flew up Friday morning and had time to visit Cody's old shop which held the Centenary display and merchandising. The display was excellent and I was able to get copies of the subjects that interested me.
I was able to get all the literature I needed for both my brother and I. Well done to the people that created such a great display and one stop shop.
The parade blew me away. I couldn't believe the historical vehicles and machinery that people had dragged out of sheds. The participation was great 250 entries a fantastic effort for such a small town. The whole town threw it self head long into the festivities.
The schools being open was really appreciated. I was able to go up to Our Ladies and have Claire Tellefson describe how it was in the 60's when I was at school at Merbein PS. Our Ladys was always a mystery to us as we walked past to go swimming with the school.
It was great to see a local as Principal at Merbein.
The High School was also good to see in 2009 and to see how far it had advanced from the 60's.
The Merbein Historical Society need to be commended on their conservation efforts and displays. They are doing terrific work.
The Fireworks at Chaffey Park that had been sponsored by Merbein Sawmill were fantastic. They went for ages and were a spectacular display.
The Rendezvous will never be the same again after myself, Kay Stirrat and Lyn McKenzie talked and cackled for ages about the good old days we had shared.
The lunch on number 1 oval at Kenny Park was really good. I ran into people I hadn't seen for ages. The Benett brothers took me for a spin in their 1937 Reilly which was a great experience.
I came home hoarse from so much talking and with a head full of fantastic memories of Merbein in its Centenary year.

| What a wonderful time we had at the Back to Merbein celerbrations. We remembered some wonderfull times and those that we had forgotten other people were able to remind us, We caught up with Greg Norman in Perth last week which was really special as his memories were a lot clearer than Sylvester's. Sylvester's family,Anthony, Mary and extended family were thrilled to have time together back in Merbein were it had all started and can't wait for the next reunion. Well done to all the commitee and helpers for an excellent weekend one that will be rembered for a long time |

| The organisers, the various people who helped out, the Historical Society, the RSL, the Principals - you have provided us with a fantastic weekend. Information and everything else was easy to find, which meant we could spend our time catching up, looking at displays, enjoying! I have been to many reunions and back-tos, and I think yours shone. I feel like I have been rejuvenated - to see so many happy Merbein people. I really don't want to single out some special people, because then, others might feel neglected. But I will say what I PARTICULARLY enjoyed:Street Parade just amazed me, with so many exhibitsHistorical SocietyRSLMerbein Primary SchoolMerbein High SchoolBlandowski's Exhibition at the Hill Corner (along with great Devonshire Teas)Church ServiceWell done and thank you to those people who worked so hard to make the Centenary an outstanding success.Pam Cupper |

| I heard Pam Cupper giving the centenery celebrations a wrap on Macca's Australia All Over program this morning.It was great to read the messages and to see the names of the some of the people I knew in the 1940's and 1950's.My Mum and Dad, Yvonne and Frank Moritz lived in Commercial Street from 1943 until 1948. They then developed a glasshouse tomato farm at South Merbein and lived there for the next 10 years.. The farm was on the corner of Oak Avenue and the Sturt Highway and our neighbours were Hurtle Roberts, Rudy Barich and Snowy Sedgmen, who was Phillip, Cissy and Charlie's Dad..Congratulations to the Committee for the fine organising effort for the events, which from Pam's words on Macca's show, were outstanding successes. Graeme and I had a great 4 days catching up and attending the organised events.
It was great to see family, friends, old school and sporting team mates. Unfortunately we could stay for all the events.
Sorry we missed so many.
