| Re Joy's enquiry about a class reunion. I am very keen to see one happen, but unfortunately can't help much as I am currently on a filming assignment in north oz, and won't be back home till just before the centenary. |

| Hi,Richard Newland again. Further to the video I mentioned in my previous message. The picnic showing on the video was held at Lake Cullulerain by a group of local identities who called themselves the Wichety Tribe.They were an informal group who went on fishing trips and did some charity work together and held family picnics. Some of the names I can remember are: Dave Michell,Harry Treager and George Ball. The film that the video was taken from was shot in about 1948 or thereabouts.I also made a mistake as Sandalong Park is of cause in Mildura. Regards Richard. |

What is your story? Do you have kids/ grandchildren, do you live in Merbein?
Merle (Brighton) Mc Rae would love to meet fellow classmates if possible.

| My name is Richard Newland. I attended school at Merbein Central and later Higher Elementary School from 1942 to 1951.Some of the names I remember of people who were in my class at some time are: Bob Tranter,Ian Hinks,Bob Maynard,Eric Zerner,Barbara Gatliff,Helen Simons,Thais Stanton,Geof Hollis,Ian Griffiths,Robin Lloyd,"Slogger Van,Jessica Thompson,Lindsay Blyth Frank Petit.Perhaps someone can suggest a time and place where we could all meet and renew aquaintances.I will be in Merbein on 13,14,15,and 16 and again on 20,21,2, and 23rd. I have a VHS recording taken from an 8mm film taken by my father Arther Newland which includes the wedding of Doris Smith and Martin Mac Carthy and a picnic with local identities at Sandalong Park which I think is at Lake Cullulerain if anyone is interested.
