| Hello - I'm Rosemarie Neville. My Dad, Ray Neville, who passed on in 1997, had a grocery store in Commercial Street. My Mum, Mollie, is 96 (next week) and still living independently near me in Melbourne. She was very active in the life of the Merbein community until they moved to Melbourne at the end of the '70s. I'm looking forward to spending a few days in town during the centenary and hope to meet up with some old friends. Please contact me (or my Mum) via my email address if you would like to get in touch. |

While I originally came from Buronga, my mums family were mostly in Merbien so i spent a lot of my weekends at my Nana's as a kid. Mum was Alma Matthews (now 85)and married Bill Thomson. Her stepfather was Bob Small, who drove the breadcart (horse drawn) for about 20. Her brother was Bill Matthews, sisters Vi Tyres and Edith Miller. All sadly passed away. My wife's (Jennie Cody) family (Alex and Esme and Ian)ran the Eureka Cafe for some years. My mother,Alex, Jen and her brother Ian his wife and myself (Darryl)will be there. |

| Our grandparents had a block in 1st street Merbein from about 1912 to 1990. Sam & Millie Brinsden had three children. One died as a child but Harold went on to run the block until her retired. His sister Lorna was a school teacher in the area for a while before marrying Michael Tisdal and moving to Melbourne. Harold married Isobel Curtis and she was also a hard worker on the block.Harold and Isobels children, Myself (Graham), Lois, Judy and Keith will all be there on the 21st for the parade. Keith is getting the 1926 Maxwell going which mum bought in the 1960's. It was originally used by a river boat to transport wood. I will get the 1953 David Brown out for a run.We hope to see all our school mates from Merbein West Primary and Merbein High School from the 1960's |

Merbein Higher Elementary for forms 1 to 4 and then in form 5 we moved to the brand new school which was renamed Merbein High School. Some of my class mates at various times were Dot and Heather Killingbeck, Glenys Dickie, Mary Flynn, Maiva Herath, Judy Keens (until she went to Ballarat), Val Blaby, Ruth Clifford, Judy Sheehan, Lorraine Anders,Glenys and Lois Bertalli, Kevin Forbes, Russell Punton, Peter Gordon, Alex Ball, Neville Mitchell, David Heritage, Jim Dimasi, Bill Cross, Mick McMullen, John Hemming and heaps of others. We lived in 5th St, Merbein West, cousins of Kaye and Peter Blaby. My brother Stuart, partner Allan, and I are coming to the celebrations from Friday 21 August - looking forward to a huge catch-up.
