From Maxine Smith nee Allen daughter of Maxwell Allen of Box St. Merbein. and grand-daughter of Walter E. Allen whose name is on the gates of the Park as a 1st world war veteran. I attned the Higher elementary school @ Merbein from 1951 - 1954. I am wishing to contact any one who has more info about my great grandfather who settled in Merbein in the 1800's with his family.
I remember Linley Donaldson, Irene Mitton, Louise Sallmann, Lorraine Barnes and the family, Dolly Pettigrew and Bill my aunt and Uncle. The title of my grandads story is as per the subject title which I was sent by the vice president of the Merbein History Commitee if there is any other history please advise and let me know how I can access it. Thank You Maxine

An invitation to all descendants and friends of the HENDERSON, HARROP & LAWSON families to come to a family gathering on the Settlers Picnic Day, Sunday 16th August at Kenny Park. There will be a display of the Family Tree (hopefully we can bring it up to date) as well as some old family photos. Digital copies of the Tree and photos will be available for interested family. If you have any memorabilia (photos etc), bring them along so they can be scanned and then shared with other family members. A chance to catch up, on a happy ocassion!

I went to school at Merbein Primary in 1971 until 1978 the went to Mildura Technical school. Got an Apprenticeship with CSIRO Merbein Laboratories in 1984, made redundant at the ripe old age of 22years. Got a job with NSW Agriculture in Dareton and moved to Orange NSW to work with NSW Agriculture. Five years ago I was made redundant again, the story of my life.. I now run my own very successful catering Business in Orange NSW. My Mum and Dad are Ted and Margaret Cox, also living in Orange NSW, they will be attending the celebrations. Hope everyone has a hoot of a time sorry I will miss it.

Great to see some familiar names appearing. I used to live on Channel Road opposite Higher Elementary School 3687 with my two sisters (Rosemary - deceased and Joan who was in same form as Josie Killingbeck, Betty Allison) etc. In 1958 I was in grade 5 and Ron Neville was the teacher. (Richard Wells was in our class)
We had some great life mentors with our teachers and sporting coaches and I consider myself to be of a lucky era. I will be around and about both week ends and look forward to seeing some familiar faces.
